1. invite (v.) 邀请
(1) invite sb. 邀请某人

(2) invite sb. to do sth. 邀请某人做某事
例如:Jack invited his best friend to have 20th birthday party on the weekend. 杰克邀请他最好的朋友在周末参加他20岁的生日派对。
(3) invite有时也会用在被动语态中,表示“被邀请”。
例如:I haven't been invited. 我没有被邀请。
invitation (n.) 邀请,常见搭配有:
1. make an invitation 发出邀请

3. accept an invitation 接受邀请
2. Thanks for 因……感谢
Thanks for + 名词/代词/动词-ing形式
例如:Thanks for your help.
Thanks for coming.
Thanks for teaching us well.
此处的thanks for 可以和thank you互换,也可以说成 Thank you for telling me the truth. 或 Thank you for your invitation.
区分:Thanks to 意为“多亏,由于”,to是介词,后接名词/代词/动词-ing形式。
例如:Thanks to your help, I succeeded in getting a good job. 多亏了你的帮忙,我才成功得到一份好工作。
3. available (adj.) 有空;不忙;有时间交谈
例如:Are you available tomorrow morning? 你明天早上有空吗?
= Are you free tomorrow morning?
= Do you have time tomorrow morning?
【拓展】 available表示“有空”时,后面还可以用to do引出具体的事情。
例如:I'm afraid I'm not available to help with the school show on the 19th. 我怕是没空来帮着准备学校19号的演出了。
例如:Sorry, the number you dialed is not available. 对不起,你所拨打的电话已停机。
