What time is it now?

此句是由what time引导的对时间提问的特殊疑问句，问句中what当形容词，修饰后面的名词time；time当“时间”解时，只能用单数，不可用复数。其答句结构为：It is＋时间＋（o'clock）.

what time与when的异同：

what time与when都可以用来询问时间，相当于汉语的“什么时候”，它们之间的异同点如下：

（1）询问做某事的具体时间（钟点）时，两者可以互相替换。

eg：—What time/When do you go to school?

—I go to school at seven o'clock.

（2）询问钟表所显示的具体时间时，只能用what time,而不能用when。

eg：—What time is it,Tom?

—It's half past eight thirty.

（3）询问事件发生的年份、月份、日期等非钟点时间只能用when,而不能用what time。

eg:—When is your birthday, John?
