此句型用于表达某人的业余爱好。collecting是collect的动名词形式。在英语中，动词原形不能单独作主语。由于动名词有名词性质，所以用动名词作主语。

该句用来询问某人是否有什么物品，是由have引导的一般疑问句,要把have got中的have提前。句子的肯定回答是“Yes, I have.”，否定回答是“No, I haven ’t.”。
